Meeting Agenda

Time Presenter Topic
6:00 - 8:00  John VanSant (BEA Systems, Inc.) Tackling Application Integration in SOA
8:00 - 9:00  Breakouts

Plus the following breakouts:

Small Group/Mentoring/Breakout Presenter
Effective Java (items 40 - 45) Ian Robertson
Java Certification (Chapters 8 & 9) Don Bogardus

John VanSant is a Sr. System Engineer with BEA in Denver. John has been working in the software industry for over 20 years and working with Java and J2EE technologies since 1997. When he is not working, he enjoys wrestling with his kids, playing soccer, hiking, and skiing.

John's presentation and demonstration will show an example order processing system built using a set of services in a service oriented architecture.  This end-to-end demo will show the use of BPM (Business Process Management), Service Bus, and stateful application integration together to fulfill the use-cases involved.

In addition, we will add to the example by building a bottom-up service using the Workshop for WebLogic tooling to create JPA entities which are fronted by Spring beans and exposed as a web service.  This new service will be proxied by the service bus so it can be utilized by client applications such as the order processing system.

There will be more demonstration than presentation in this talk - showing BEA's AquaLogic Service Bus, AquaLogic Business Process Management, WebLogic Integration, and WebLogic server working together.  BEA's eclipse-based development environment "Workshop for WebLogic" will be used throughout.
